The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced the successful germination of cowpea seeds sent to space onboard the PSLV-C60 POEM-4 platform within four days, as part of the Compact Research Module for Orbital Plant Studies (CROPS) experiment. The initiative, conducted by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, aims to study plant growth in microgravity, essential for future long-duration space missions. The seeds are growing in a controlled environment with active thermal regulation. This experiment seeks to advance ISRO's capabilities in supporting plant growth in extraterrestrial conditions, signifying a step toward sustainable space agriculture.
