Teens Increasingly Use ChatGPT for Schoolwork

A Pew Research Center survey reveals that 26% of U.S. teens now use ChatGPT for schoolwork, up from 13% in 2023. The increase is notably higher among Black and Hispanic teens compared to White teens, and more prevalent among older teens in 11th and 12th grades. Teens mostly approve of using the chatbot for research, but fewer support its use for math and essay writing. Awareness of ChatGPT has generally risen, though it varies by race, ethnicity, and household income. Familiarity influences both usage and acceptance of ChatGPT for educational purposes.
