Belgium Bans Disposable Vapes to Curb Addiction

Belgium has become the first EU country to ban the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes, effective January 1, to combat nicotine addiction among youth and protect the environment. Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke emphasized the harmful effects of nicotine and the environmental impact of disposable vapes. This move is part of a broader effort to weaken the tobacco lobby and achieve near-zero new smokers by 2040. Additional measures include bans on smoking in various public areas and restrictions on tobacco product displays in large supermarkets. Meanwhile, Milan has introduced a ban on outdoor smoking to improve air quality, highlighting ongoing efforts across Europe to strengthen anti-smoking regulations.
